JINX & SYNTROPIA: An Evening of Orchestral Music in Castelfidardo

An extraordinary evening dedicated to contemporary music, where innovation and tradition meet in a unique sonic dialogue. Two standout compositions, “JINX” by Christos Farmakis and “SYNTROPIA” by Alfredo Luigi Cornacchia, will be performed at the Teatro Astra in Castelfidardo in an unmissable event for orchestral music enthusiasts.

JINX by Christos Farmakis, conducted by Mº Alfredo Luigi Cornacchia, is a Double Concerto commissioned in 2011 by the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen for the 2012 annual commemorative concert. The work, structured in five movements, features the TOEAC duo performing the accordion solo parts in a constant dialogue with the orchestra. The fourth movement, a solo cadenza, highlights the virtuosity of the accordions, exploring and developing the main ideas of the piece. The inspiration for the composition comes from both the TOEAC duo and the composer’s daughter, whose names are hidden in the movement titles as acronyms of their first letters. This piece promises to be an intense and engaging experience, celebrating the fusion of technique and emotional expression.

Following JINX, SYNTROPIA by Alfredo Luigi Cornacchia, also conducted by Mº Cornacchia, will be performed with soloist Xu Xiaonan, winner of the 37th edition of the PIF. SYNTROPIA, presented in its world premiere, transcends the traditional concept of concerto and symphony, offering a renewed concertante symphony. The work is characterized by episodes and tempo changes that become gestures, giving the composition a unique dynamism. The complex soloist’s writing evolves in constant dialogue with the orchestra, creating a dialectic between two sound worlds that blend and contrast. The concerto is divided into two major sections: a developed slow introduction and a fast tempo, culminating in an increasingly prominent rhythmic definition.

The presence of the prestigious CALABRIA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, resident for the fourth consecutive year at the International Accordion Prize in Castelfidardo, adds further value to this evening. The orchestra, under the expert direction of Mº Cornacchia, will bring these new compositions to life, offering the audience a unique and unforgettable musical experience.

Don’t miss the opportunity to attend this special evening, where contemporary music takes center stage in an event that celebrates innovation, talent, and passion for music.
